My First Acrylic Album

At our Scrapaholics Crop on Sunday, Jo and Izzy put together the cutest little kit for us all to make an adorable little acrylic album with. I just need to add my journalling and I'd like to distress the edges a bit with some sanding and alcohol inks. I'll post another picture later of all the pages when it's complete. I think the pictures I chose are just perfect. Thanks Jo and Izzy for a great class!

I'm So Excited!

I bought it! I just had to! I couldn't resist any longer! I had to get the Weeds and Wildflowers Project 365 kit! I just love the simplicity and look of raw papers, textures and doodles. Now I can't wait to play with it and start digi scrapping my weeks. I'm sure I'll change these photos as the days go by and I capture some more great moments of this year but for now, I just couldn't wait to play! I'm going to try and stay on top of my weeks so I don't get too far behind but with this kit I think it will be super easy to create some great pages. Thanks for stopping by.

On Top of the Mountain

Here's what our city looked like above the clouds on top of Cypress Mountain today.

And here's what it looked like on the ground. Usually I can see the city behind these trees but because of the fog today it was just a blur.

My First Official Duty as Treasurer

On my way home from work yesterday I stopped to pick up some 50/50 tickets for our 50/50 draw tomorrow with the Scrapaholics. I actually found some that said 50/50 lol I'm picking up Izzy and Sue first thing in the morning to head to our crop. I'm so excited about the acrylic album we'll be making! I'm off to search for some great photos to print out for my project. I'll post a picture of what I make tomorrow. Thanks for stopping by!

Up and Running Again

Finally! The computers at work are finally operational again! I've been watching my work pile up the past 7 days and today began catching up. I'm also excited that I'm down 7 pounds since the beginning of the year. I'm totally motivated again and plan to hit the gym again tomorrow after work.

Sunday is our Scrapaholics crop and I am so excited! Izzy and Jo are going to be teaching us how to make an adorable acrylic album just in time for Valentine's Day. They took this photo of their creative afternoon together planning the album just to get us drooling! lol

I'm also planning on bringing another little mini album to work on that I bought a while back from Izzy. I just have to decide which pictures I want to put in it. I'm thinking about maybe doing a little Friend's album for Emily.

All Systems Down

This has been my view at work for the past 5 days. An evil virus infected our entire network last week and we have had to keep evey single computer powered off until further notice from our IT department. Like Izzy, having a new awareness for our gift of mobility, I have a new awareness of exactly how much we rely on our computers and technology. Honesty, if my computer at home was down for this long I think I'd go stir crazy, but can imagine just how much more work I'd actually get done! lol

In fact, I have a little sign posted in my studio that says, A clean house is a sign of a broken computer. lol

Me and My Runners

If you haven't been following my Project 365 Blog, you might not have seen my post about getting myself back in shape. I intend to get re-aquainted with my runners this month and get active! I use to go to the gym at least 3 times a week, right after work, but over the past year I have slowly fallen out of my routine due to a variety of reasons, but now that it's a new year and I'm feeling healthy again I've decided to get myself back to the gym and lose this extra weight that has suddenly creeped up on me! I am a total chocoholic and now that Halloween and Christmas is behind me the temptation to indulge will be far less. Hubby already knows not to buy me chocolates for Valentine's Day lol. My goal is to lose 30 pounds by May 1st. Just under 10 pounds a month. That seeems reasonable and atainable don't ya think?

I know once I get back into my routine and get myself through a few weeks sugar free I'll lose those cravings for something sweet and it will get easier to resist the temptations. I love the Group Power (free weights to music class) at my gym and intend on taking that up again along with my cardio workout. Did you ever notice though how healthy food is usually much more time consuming to prepare?! Anything fast and convenient is usually not good for you and after working a full day, cooking is the last thing I want to do! Ahhh, but the rewards to a healthy, low fat meal. I felt so great a year ago and by May 1st I intend to feel that great again. I haven't said anything really to too many people because I didn't want them bugging me, but I've decided to post here to make me a little more accountable for my decision and help me keep my committment to myself. I've marked my gym time on my calendar and will do my best to keep it just like any other important event. Off to pack up my gym bag for tomorrow! Thanks for stopping by.

Stamp Club Day

Today I went to Sue's for our monthly Stampin Up! club. Sue C was there and we all had a really nice visit. I love Sue's card club! She is so very talented and such a lovely hostess and a good friend! For some reason the gals thought I was a little more charming than usual LOL Here are the cards we made today. Isn't the little bee one cute?! Thanks for the ride home Sue C!

I've been a little behind in my Project 365 but just finished uploading the last 3 days of photos. Check it out here. Today's Photo of the Day is especially funny!

Well! Hello There!

This little guy greeted me when I arrived home today. Isn't he cute? I almost wonder if he's trying to remind me that the snow has it's charm and doesn't have to be all that inconvenient afterall. I didn't actually make it in to work today. I tried, but my car totally sucks in the snow! I did just fine on the main roads of course, but it wasn't until I had to make it up the last 6 blocks, which were side streets, that I ended up having difficulty. Difficulty as in getting stuck 3, THREE Times Stuck! Fortunately there were tons of people on their way to work also and so several stopped to offer help and push me out of my predicaments, the last being the worst. I finally got myself turned around and since I was now facing down hill, I decided to keep going and head back home. Even if I did manage to get to work, I can't imagine where I would have parked as all the side streets were snow banks or filled with cars that clearly had not gone anywhere for weeks! It's suppose to warm up tonight so hopefully more of this lovely white stuff will melt and I'll make it in tomorrow. I'm going to have to head out pretty early though as traffic was pretty much at a crawl in several parts of the city today.

CD Calendar

I love making these cute little CD calendars! I've made digitally scrapbooked ones and ones from my PC graphics. This is the first time I've tried making one with all stamped images. I used all SU cardstock with a variety of stamps and SU inks and copics. You observant peeps might have noticed the month of October is missing lol. That's because I don't have any Hallowe'en stamps and I'm waiting to see my friend Colleen who is going to lend me one of hers so I can complete my project.

I'm back to work tomorrow so my creative playtime will be significantly reduced especially because I am also planning to get back in to my 3-4 day a week gym schedule. I really need to get back into my routine! I'm hoping this new year brings me a lot of new energy to get back in shape and create more beautiful projects inspired by all my creative friends!

My photo for today is posted in my Project 365 Blog. It's a cutie. Check it out! Thanks for stopping by!

Ok, Seriously.....Enough Already!

More snow??! The side roads are still really icey and are now covered in snow again. It's dangerous out there! Walking or driving! Getting to work on Monday is going to be a B@#$*! It was wonderful to have a white Christmas, I loved it! It was warm and cozy inside and beautiful outside and was great, if you didn't have to drive anywhere, but frankly, at this point, I'd be happy to see our good ole Vancouver rain again!

Project 365 Well Underway....

I'm bursting with inspiration and creativity which is great because one of my resolutions for 2009 is to be much more creative and use up some of my stash that is spilling out of my studio! I'm loving all the Christmas projects and still feel like creating Christmas goodies. No harm in that right? I can always be super organized for next year! lol

I stopped by the Scrapbook Warehouse today to check out their Twoonie Sale and picked up a cute little Home for the Holidays homemade paper crafting Christmas book with tons of really cute ideas! I forced myself to walk out of the store without buying anymore supplies. I did pick up some more 8x8 page protectors for my December Photo a Day project and can now print out days 21-31 to complete that project. I loved Izzy's idea of keeping a little basket for her mini albums so I picked up one and have placed the few that I have made in it. I have a few other mini album kits to complete which is on my Creative To Do list for this month. But first, I have to finish my CD calendar that I'm making now. I'll be sure to post a photo of it when I'm done.

So far I'm on top of Project 365 and have taken and posted my photo for today on my KatsProject365 blog. It's amazing how many things I wanted to take a photograph of today when I was much more aware and paying closer attention to my surrondings. Here's the last of my layouts for the December Photo a Day Challenge - December 29th, 30th and 31st. Thanks for stopping by!

Project 365 - See Your Life in a Whole New Way!

Ok who is up for a challenge? I had so much fun doing my Photo a Day for the month of December that I am going to challenge myself even more and jump into Project 365. Check this site out here for tips on how you can make this challenge become a wonderful keepsake. Gina over at Weeds and Wildflowers is in the midst of creating a digital kit to help make this project even easier! And....CK magazine has a prompt list to help keep you motivated here. So who's up for it? We could encourage each other to keep going and just think how great it will be to look back at the memories we all share in 2009!

One of the reasons I enjoyed the December Photo a Day so much was because it forced me to look at the little things in life just a little closer and I got to use my camera in a whole new way. I also discovered that I really love the art of photography even more than I thought I did and really enjoyed challenging myself to take better photos. I hope some of you will join me in this pretty big endeavour! It'll be great! Who's up for it?

December 31st - Ringing in the New Year

....with an old tradition. When I was little, my parents and I use to get together with our good friends and celebrate New Years. It was a tradition that when the clock struck midnight on December 31st, the kids would get to bang pots and pans outside the front of the house. This was always a lot of fun because, afterall, when could you make this much noise late at night? This year, a generation later, our kids carried on that same tradition. The adults toasted in the New Year with some champaign and the kids made a heck of a lot of noise out on the balcony! Can you tell they were having fun? lol

Earlier in the evening, we pulled out Monopoly Around the World and all played together until the girls decided to play dress up. It was a quiet evening with good friends, pizza and wine, but just my speed for this time in my life. Hope you all had a wonderful evening as well! All the best to all my friends and family for a year filled with laughter, good health and happiness!
