Best Friends

Here's the first layout I've had time to post since my C4K weekend. I was fortunate enough to take two of Debbie Visser's classes, Wonderful One Page Layouts, sponsored by Piggy Tales and Memory Workshop and Feels Like Fall, sponsored by www.ScrapbokingFanatics.com. Debbie has opened my eyes to a whole new way to create and you will see what I mean when I have a chance to post the rest of the treasures I made in her class. Who would have thought that ripping, tearing, crumpling, inking and distressing such beautiful papers could be so much fun! lol We made three fabulous layouts in her Wonderful One Page Layouts class. For this one, I chose to scrap me and my best friend Daphne and our girls. I loved this kit! I'll be posting more of my layouts from Debbie's class as soon as I have some more time. I've been fiddling with my blog trying to resize my margins so I can post a layout gallery and let's just say the blog has gotten the best of me! I'm worn out from fighting with it and it's finicky little html codes. So....time to rest my eyes and I will tackle it again another day. Right now I need some sleep! I'm still buzzing with creativity from my fabulous weekend at C4K. I'll try to get the other treasures I made in Debbie's classes posted soon.

Week 2 Challenge - So You Think You Can Scrap

This is my Shabby Chic challenge layout that I completed over at Scrapaholics. I am so glad I signed up for this challenge as it has really kicked my butt into gear and is forcing me to step out of "the box" as well as it is motivating me to pull out some of my old stash that has been getting burried under all the new goodies that I have been collecting! There are just way too many incredible products out there to play with! In an earlier post I did a digi layout of my parents 55th wedding anniversary. This one is similar only I got to get my hands dirty!

Birthday Card for my SIL

For some reason in this photograph, the purples are turning out more like blues :o( Instead they are a pretty variety of subtle shades of purples with a much brighter green leaf on the actual card itself. The flower is a Sizzix die that I picked up today. I applied some double sided sticky tape to my white cardstock and then ran it through my Big Shot. I then peeled off the tape backing and used my favourite Glitter Ritz micro fine glitter in a variety of colours and burnished them to the flowers and leaves. I then dabbed the centres of each flower with some Liquid Pearl. I'll be giving this card to my SIL tomorrow at a family dinner. I hope she likes it!

Digi to Traditional

In an older post, I used these same photos to design a digital layout and for this one I wanted to try and use more of my stamps. The border is all stamped and then coloured in with my SU water colour crayons. The beautiful swirl and bird at the top is a Close to My Heart stamp. I absolutely adore both Stampin Up and CTMH products!

Week 1 Challenge ~ So You Think You Can Scrap

Over at Scrapaholics we are having a So You Think You Can Scrap 8 week challenge. Each week Izzy will post a challenge for all who have signed up. I knew this would keep me scrappin despite my busy schedule at work and allow me to use up some of my stash! Week 1's challenge is "Urban Chic".....a chance for us to pull out the bling and sparkles. I went to town and pulled out the Glimmer Mist and Alcohol Inks. It's hard to see all the sparkles in this layout, but trust me, it shimmers! I thought this photo of Emily worked perfectly. Notice the curls and the little bit of makeup on my little Glam Girl after a night of pampering with her girl friends.

September is the month for Birthdays!

I have several birthday cards to make this month for friends a family. This one I made for my girlfriend who's birthday is in a week. Everything but the stamp is from Stampin Up. The little flower pot stamp is from the adorable Elzybells series.

I'm Soooo Excited!

I've signed up to take two classes at BC's Creative Expo this year. I've never been and can't wait! I'm going to take a class from Trisha Ladouceur from Edmonton who Izzy says is just a fabulous instructor. Her class is a Just Me 6x12 clear album. I've never done one before and am so looking forward to this challenge! Here is a photo of what we'll be making. I'll be sure to post mine when I complete it.

Mini Wall Album

I bought a Cosmo Cricket kit a longggg time ago and finally got around to playing with. I made this to hang in my studio.

Crayon Resist

I really want to try and learn more techniques for my card making so I did a little research and tried the crayon resist technique on this card and had lots of fun making it. The white parts of the card is where I used my crayon before stamping the purple, blue and green ink for the background. The wax crayon resisted the ink and left these parts white. The trick is to use a glossy card stock and polish it up to remove the wax residue once you are finished applying your ink.
