December 29th and 30th

First, December 29th Photo of the day. Paul and Emily made a yummy apple pie on Monday night. Emily is a pro at making pies now! What will she make next?

My December 30th photo is one of a little project that I had soooo much fun playing with! I was blog hopping the other night and came across Angie's blog and OMG! Does this woman ever make some cute paper projects! She has several YouTube videos as well showing step by step how she creates some of her adorable creations. You must check her out! I've seen these cute little book marks on Splitcoast Stampers and have been wanting to make them for a while. I chose to use the Deer Friends stamp set from Stampin Up. Angie has some really cute ones on her blog too. I'm just itching to have a little "me time" to play in my studio now! I'm going to give these to my friends who are coming over tonight to celebrate New Year's Eve with us. Counting down the hours now! Happy New Year everyone!

Get Better Soon Izzy!

I was shocked to find out today that my friend Izzy broke her ankle just before Christmas and ended up having surgery and is now home recovering. A broken ankle is about the only thing that will keep this girl down. We will all have to keep her entertained with our blogging while she's on bed rest! Get better soon Izzy! I'm going to miss you at our crops!

December 28th - Fuzzy Slippers

Since we've been pretty much house bound for the past several days, Emily and I decided to make the best of it yesterday and cuddled up in our PJs to watch a movie that we ordered on our digital box (Home Alone in New York City). It was pretty funny. My photo for today is of Em's fuzzy pink slippers. I wish they made them in my size!

December 27th - A Winter Wedding

My good friend Debbie got married today and so I chose the wedding card I made for her as my photo of the day. I wanted to design something that had a winter theme to it and chose all Stampin Up materials for this one. I love the soft colours of the Baja Breeze cardstock and Ski Slope DSP. I then added a large snowflake die cut with a sprinkling of glitter and embossed the two hearts from the Always collection and used pop dots to secure them to the snowflake. A little bling and some white ribbon and it was ready to present to her.

My sister-in-law was kind enough to drive us down to Christ Church Cathedral for the ceremony as we were still not able to get our car out of our snow covered parking stall. The ceremony was just beautiful and afterwards we walked across the street to the Hotel Vancouver for a high tea. It was just lovely. Here are some pictures from our afternoon.

December 24th, 25th and 26th - Our White Christmas

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas with their family and friends. I know that some of our plans were either cancelled or post poned due to the snow but hopefully everyone managed to celebrate despite our crazy weather. It was wonderful to have a white Christmas this year but I don't think any of us expected the amount of snow that we have had so far! Our car has been parked for days and we have pretty much been house bound except for venturing out in the neighbourhood on foot. We had to cancel our Christmas Eve tradition of visiting my sister-in-law because of the snow but were fortunate to have all our family make it down to our house on Christmas night. We all enjoyed a wonderful turkey dinner that everyone helped prepare, and a lovely evening together. We're really lucky to have everyone live so close to us. We were spoiled with gifts and our home looked so pretty in the soft glow of the candle light with our tree and all the holiday decorations. Being together is always the best gift of all.

My December 24th photo of the day is of the milk and cookies that Emily prepared for Santa. December 25th photo is of Emily's priceless expression upon receiving her new phone on Christmas morning and my December 26th photo of the day is of our advent calendar now completely full. Merry Christmas to all my friends and family.

December 23rd - Christmas Dessert

Well, yesterday was a bit of a challenge to say the least. We had to go pick up some ingredients for our lemon meringue pies for Christmas dessert but when we tried to get our car out of the parking stall it was clear we were not going anywhere. Determined to give it my best effort, I put the car in second gear and rolled back and forth and back and forth. After about 30 minutes, we made it about 30 meters and the driveway looked even longer than it did to begin with. When we tried to back up to our stall we were stuck. Stuck, stuck! I ended up having to call my dad to come help push us back into our parking spot.

Once our car was safely back in her spot, Emily and I decided to hike up to our local grocery store to pick up our ingredients. On our way back, I slipped and fell and now have a lovely bruise the size of my hand on my left hip. Honestly, if I was 15 years older I'm sure I would have broken it! The fall literally took my breath away! I hobbled home and after a couple Tylenol 3s and as long as I didn't try to sit down, I was fine.

Emily and I made two beautiful pies. Notice the beautiful peaks Emily managed to achieve with her special twirling technique! lol

So, here are my photos of the day. I am not a baker so I'm pretty proud of how these turned out. Without Emily's help, I don't think they would look as good. It was the first time I've ever made a lemon meringue pie, 30 years after Emily's first! lol

December 22nd - Christmas Ornament

This is my take on Andrea Walford's sister Sophia's Christmas ornament made with the Sizzlits Birds and Blooms die. My friend Sue was kind enough to let me use hers. Of course I had to order one from her after playing with it! lol

December 21st - The Snow Keeps Falling!

I am so loving this snow!! It is so unusual for Vancouver to get so much! It began snowing again late last night and then stopped for a bit and then started up again this morning and has not stopped. It is absolutely gorgeous out there! Here are some more pictures of our beautiful city covered in the white fluffy stuff that my sister-in-law took while sledding with Emily today. I am heading out for a walk later and will take some more but I think my sister-in-law gets my vote for Photo of the Day.

December 20th - Karen Foster Advent Calendar

Just hanging around the house today tidying up and getting ready for the big day. Our family is coming to our home this year for Christmas dinner and so there's lots to do. The house is all decorated but I still have presents to wrap and a bit of shopping to do. Today's layout is of the Karen Foster Advent Calendar that I made with the new Basic Grey Wassail paper series. Check out the one Jo made on her blog.

December 18th & 19th - Santa & Chocolates

My first layout is of one of my favourite ornaments. He's a little Santa that hung on my tree when I was a little girl. He has seen some better days, but he will always have a spot amongst our branches. My other layout is of some yummy chocolates I got as a gift today. Purdys....my favourite!

Last night I was out having fun at my Christmas staff party and we had a great time socializing and sharing in our traditional tacky gift exchange...always good for a laugh! Today was my last day of work and my boss treated me to a late lunch and a few beers. We had a nice time unwinding from what was a very long and hectic week! The staff spoiled me and I came home with lots of Christmas prezies and am now really looking forward to my holidays and spending some quiet time with my family and friends! Somehow I have lost hubby's present....don't ask! I haven't a clue! I am still looking and am hoping it will turn up! lol

December 17th - Snow, Snow, Snow....Glorious Snow!

Well....today I sat and watched the snow fall the entire day while I was at work. I was worried about the drive home but had very little difficulty once I got on the main roads. If you're not driving it's absolutely beautiful out there! I took several photos today as you can see. Who would have thought we would have so much snow already?! It seems it arrives earlier each year! Don't you just love it?! Here's my layout for December 17th. Thanks for stopping by.
